He died of cancer in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania on January 1, 2006. Rodan was executive director of the Department of Bone Biology & Osteoporosis Research at Merck Research Laboratories and was president of the American Society for Bone & Mineral Research.


Rodan (71) biomedical researcher who studied the destruction and formation of bone cells in important work used to develop treatments for osteoporosis and bone loss. He died in Liechtenstein on January 2, 2006. Hilti was one of the pioneers of the remarkable economic boom in tiny Liechtenstein with a company that generated sales of almost $240 million in its major markets of central and northwest Europe. Toni Hilti (91) industrialist and one of Liechtenstein's richest men who founded the foodstuff company Hilcona AG. Haxby died of a heart attack in Westwood, New Jersey on January 4, 2006. Haxby (56) earth scientist at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory at Columbia University who used satellite measurements to produce the first detailed maps of the ocean's floors. He died in his sleep in Darien, Connecticut on January 2, 2006. and Lincare Holdings Inc., which provides patient therapy in the home. More recently Cary was a director at companies including printer maker Lexmark International Inc.

Cary (67) former CEO of IBM Corporation who helped to drive the development of the personal computer and led the company to more than double its sales and profits. Altman died of lung cancer in South Bend, Indiana on January 7, 2006. Business and Science Arnold Altman (88) former businessman who founded Avanti Motor Corporation in 1965 and helped to prolong production of the Avanti automobile for 20 years after Studebaker Corp.
